Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients to identify mental, physical, and perioperative needs and plan safe, individualized care
• Coordinate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the multidisciplinary team to deliver smooth, efficient operative care
• Implement and evaluate perioperative nursing interventions and use clinical judgment to escalate changes in condition
• Provide clear instructions and compassionate explanations to patients and families before, during, and after procedures
• Maintain accurate, timely medical record documentation and ensure compliance with core measures
• Participate in continuing education and contribute to a positive, collaborative workplace culture
• Be available for assigned call coverage and float to other facilities as needed to support patient care

Qualifications

• Current Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• Current CPR/BLS certification required; ACLS required
• Experience working in the Operating Room or perioperative setting preferred
• Comfort with heavy orthopedic, urology, spine, and robotic-assisted procedures
• Ability to work 10-hour daytime shifts and participate in on-call rotation
• Strong clinical judgment, teamwork, and clear professional communication skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing practices and sterile technique
• Patient assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Clinical judgment to recognize and report changes in patient condition
• Multidisciplinary collaboration and effective conflict management
• Thorough medical record documentation and familiarity with OR workflows
• Experience supporting orthopedic, urology, spine, and robotic surgical cases
