Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Provide compassionate hands-on care and support to enhance residents’ comfort and dignity
- Measure and record vital signs and report any changes to nursing staff promptly
- Assist with safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and equipment
- Maintain clean, safe environments by following infection control and facility protocols
- Document resident care accurately and communicate effectively with the care team and families
- Support recreational and social activities to promote resident engagement and wellbeing
Qualifications
- GNA certification or equivalent nursing assistant certification required
- Current BLS/CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Comfortable working with older adults and a desire to provide respectful, person-centered care
- Reliable, punctual, and able to handle physical demands of the role (standing, lifting, assisting residents)
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Previous long-term care or geriatric experience is a plus but new graduates with certification are welcome
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- GNA or CNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Basic clinical skills: taking vitals, charting, and observing changes in condition
- Understanding of ADLs (activities of daily living) and mobility assistance techniques
- Familiarity with infection prevention, safe patient handling, and hygiene protocols
- Empathy, patience, and cultural sensitivity when working with older adults
- Good time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs in a busy setting
- Teamwork mindset and clear verbal/written communication
