Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide direct personal care to residents with compassion and respect
- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and toileting
- Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report concerns
- Document care and observations accurately and timely in resident records
- Support safe transfers and mobility using proper body mechanics
- Communicate effectively with nurses, families, and interdisciplinary team to promote continuity of care
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents
Qualifications
- Valid GNA certification (required)
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Comfortable working with older adults and geriatric populations
- Able to pass background checks and required health screenings (e.g., TB)
- Reliable, punctual, and able to follow care plans and facility policies
- Previous experience in long-term care or assisted living is a plus
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of an approved GNA training program and current certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Basic clinical skills: vital signs, feeding assistance, and toileting care
- Safe resident handling and transfer techniques
- Infection control and standard precautions
- Clear, compassionate communication with residents and families
- Basic documentation skills and the ability to follow care plans
- Teamwork and adaptability in a busy care environment
