Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric patients, assisting with activities of daily living
- Monitor residents’ condition and report changes promptly to nursing staff
- Help maintain a safe, clean and comfortable environment for residents
- Assist with feeding, mobility, bathing and toileting while promoting independence
- Document care provided accurately and timely in accordance with facility policies
- Collaborate with the care team to deliver person-centered care plans
Qualifications
- Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification (required)
- Comfort working with older adults and knowledge of common geriatric needs
- Current basic health clearance per facility policy (e.g., immunizations/health screening)
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate bedside manner
- Previous experience in long-term care or skilled nursing is a plus
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Completion of an accredited GNA or nurse aide training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of basic geriatric care techniques and resident safety
- Ability to assist with ADLs (bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding, mobility)
- Basic charting and documentation skills
- Good observational skills to notice changes in condition
- Teamwork and reliable time management on shift
