Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide attentive, evidence-based nursing care to neonates in the NICU and nursery
• Perform neonatal assessments and monitor vital signs, recognizing changes quickly
• Lead neonatal resuscitation efforts and follow NRP, ACLS and BLS protocols when needed
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists and families to develop and execute care plans
• Document care accurately and communicate handoffs clearly to ensure continuity
• Educate and support families on infant care, feeding and discharge planning

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted RN license (eligible to practice in Louisiana)
• NRP certification required
• ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Clinical experience caring for newborns in NICU or nursery settings (experience in neonatal care required)
• Ability to work night shifts and function well in a fast-paced team environment
• Up-to-date immunizations and ability to pass required background and health screenings

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN/ASN or BSN)
• BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of neonatal physiology and common NICU practices
• Proficiency in neonatal assessment and monitoring
• Skilled in neonatal resuscitation and emergency response using NRP guidelines
• Clear, compassionate communication with families and interdisciplinary teams
• Excellent clinical judgement and ability to prioritize in high-acuity situations
• Accurate clinical documentation and effective shift handoffs
