Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate direct care to residents, focusing on dignity and comfort
- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and mobility
- Monitor residents’ condition and promptly report changes to the nursing team
- Document care accurately and maintain clear communication with teammates
- Support mealtime assistance and basic nutritional needs
- Follow infection control and safety protocols to protect residents and staff
- Collaborate with nurses and other care staff to deliver person-centered care
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification or completion of a recognized Geriatric Nursing Assistant program
- Previous experience in long-term care, assisted living, or similar setting preferred
- Basic life support (BLS) or CPR certification as required by facility policies
- Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements
- Compassionate attitude, strong communication skills, and reliable work ethic
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred; completion of a GNA training program required
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of resident-centered care and geriatric needs
- Comfortable assisting with ADLs and using safe patient handling techniques
- Basic vital sign measurement and observation skills
- Good documentation habits and attention to detail
- Teamwork, time management, and strong interpersonal communication
