Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate hands-on care to geriatric residents, assisting with activities of daily living with dignity and respect
• Monitor and record vital signs, intake/output, and behavioral observations accurately
• Assist nursing staff with safe transfers, mobility support, and fall prevention
• Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents
• Communicate changes in resident condition promptly to the nursing team and document interventions clearly
• Support mealtime assistance and basic grooming needs while encouraging resident independence
• Participate in team huddles and care planning to help deliver coordinated, person-centered care

Qualifications

• Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification required
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or required per facility policy
• Ability to pass required background check and drug screening
• Strong communication skills and a compassionate bedside manner
• Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus, but enthusiastic newcomers are welcome

Education

• High school diploma or GED required
• GNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of infection control and basic safety protocols
• Skill in assisting with ADLs (bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding)
• Ability to take and accurately record vital signs and observations
• Familiarity with resident-centered care approaches and documentation practices
• Good teamwork, time management, and clear communication skills
