Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents, focusing on dignity and comfort
- Assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, and mobility
- Observe and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff promptly
- Support mealtime assistance and safe feeding practices when needed
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and home-like environment for residents
- Document care activities accurately and timely in the facility records
- Collaborate with the care team to implement individualized care plans
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification in Maryland (or eligible to obtain)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Comfortable working with older adults and assisting with physical care
- Ability to pass background checks and required facility screenings
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
- Previous experience in long-term care or assisted living is a plus
Education
- High school diploma or GED required
- Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Gentle, patient-centered caregiving techniques for older adults
- Safe transfer and ambulation assistance
- Basic infection control and hygiene practices
- Observation skills for identifying changes in resident status
- Basic charting and documentation of care provided
- Effective communication with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams
