Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents, focusing on dignity and comfort
• Assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, and mobility
• Observe and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff promptly
• Support mealtime assistance and safe feeding practices when needed
• Help maintain a clean, safe, and home-like environment for residents
• Document care activities accurately and timely in the facility records
• Collaborate with the care team to implement individualized care plans

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification in Maryland (or eligible to obtain)
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Comfortable working with older adults and assisting with physical care
• Ability to pass background checks and required facility screenings
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
• Previous experience in long-term care or assisted living is a plus

Education

• High school diploma or GED required
• Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Gentle, patient-centered caregiving techniques for older adults
• Safe transfer and ambulation assistance
• Basic infection control and hygiene practices
• Observation skills for identifying changes in resident status
• Basic charting and documentation of care provided
• Effective communication with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams
