Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents, assisting with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding)
- Assist with safe transfers, mobility, and positioning to promote comfort and prevent falls
- Observe and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff clearly and promptly
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation of care and resident interactions
- Support mealtime assistance and basic nutrition monitoring according to care plans
- Follow infection control practices and maintain a safe, clean environment for residents
Qualifications
- Valid GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) — current and in good standing
- Active eligibility or registration to practice in Maryland (as required)
- CPR/BLS certification required or willing to obtain upon hire
- Compassionate bedside manner with experience caring for older adults preferred
- Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements
Education
- High school diploma or GED required
- GNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
- Skilled at assisting with ADLs and safe patient handling techniques
- Good observational skills and the ability to communicate changes effectively
- Basic charting and documentation skills; attention to detail
- Team-oriented attitude and ability to follow care plans and directions from licensed staff
