Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate assistance with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming) to preserve dignity and comfort
• Assist residents with mobility and transfers using safe body mechanics and proper equipment
• Take and record vital signs accurately and report any changes to nursing staff
• Support meal service and feedings as needed, ensuring proper nutrition and hydration
• Maintain clear, timely documentation of care and observations in resident records
• Communicate respectfully with residents, families, and the interdisciplinary care team
• Help maintain a clean, safe environment and adhere to infection control practices

Qualifications

• Active GNA certification or equivalent required
• Prior experience in long-term care, assisted living, or geriatric settings preferred
• Current CPR/BLS certification or willingness to obtain
• Up-to-date immunizations and ability to pass background and health screenings
• Compassionate communicator with patience and respect for older adults
• Ability to stand for shifts, assist with transfers, and perform physical caregiving duties

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Completion of a GNA program or state-recognized training (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Skillful in ADLs, basic personal care, and safe transfer techniques
• Ability to take and document vital signs and observe clinical changes
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with residents and families
• Familiarity with infection control, privacy, and safety protocols
• Team-oriented approach and willingness to follow care plans
