Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate daily care to residents, promoting dignity and independence
- Assist with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, and mobility
- Monitor and report changes in resident condition to the nursing team
- Support safe transfers and ambulation using proper body mechanics
- Document care and vital signs accurately and timely
- Collaborate with nursing staff and therapy teams to deliver person-centered care
- Engage residents in conversation and meaningful activities to boost well-being
Qualifications
- Active GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) required
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Current BLS/CPR certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Comfort working with older adults and those with complex care needs
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
- Ability to pass background and health screenings as required by the facility
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of an approved Geriatric Nursing Assistant program
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of basic patient care and safety procedures
- Ability to take and record vital signs accurately
- Familiarity with infection control and hand hygiene practices
- Strong observational skills to notice changes in resident status
- Compassionate interpersonal skills and patience with geriatric patients
- Basic documentation skills and comfort with electronic or paper charts
