Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide skilled nursing care in an outpatient cardiology clinic, supporting physicians and ARNPs
- Perform patient assessments, obtain vital signs, and complete thorough health histories
- Manage telephone triage and MyChart message workflows to respond to urgent patient needs
- Conduct medication reconciliation and interpret laboratory results to inform care plans
- Collect and process specimens including capillary, throat, urine (UA/clean catch), and venipuncture/phlebotomy
- Set up aseptic/sterile procedure trays and assist with dressing changes and other clinic procedures
- Deliver patient teaching and follow-up care after testing and procedures, ensuring patients understand next steps
- Float between clinic pods as needed, providing flexible coverage across outpatient cardiac services
Qualifications
- WA RN license required, in-hand at time of signature (pending licenses not accepted)
- Minimum 1 year experience as an RN in an adult outpatient cardiology clinic required
- First-time travel RNs considered only if they have inpatient cardiac experience
- BLS certification required
- Epic charting experience required
- Reliable personal transportation required to float between clinic sites
- Comfort working with advanced cardiac patients and equipment (LVAD, CardioMEMS, cardiac monitors, EKG)
Knowledge & Skills
- Epic electronic charting proficiency
- Telephone triage and managing patient portal (MyChart) communications
- Phlebotomy, specimen collection, and specimen labeling best practices
- Medication reconciliation and interpretation of laboratory results
- Familiarity with interventional cardiology concepts (stents, angiograms) and structural heart procedures (TAVR, TMVR, LAAO)
- Experience with cardiac devices and monitors including LVAD and CardioMEMS
- Strong patient teaching, follow-up, and clinical documentation skills
