Shift Type: Night, 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM; schedule varies (every other weekend required)

Candidate Pay Rate: $53 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, skilled nursing care for adult and geriatric Med/Surg patients with oncology history
- Administer and monitor chemotherapy/biotherapy (IV, PO, injection) safely and according to protocol
- Perform vascular access tasks including port access, central line blood draws, PICC and peripheral line management
- Manage complex infusions such as heparin drips and insulin drips while monitoring patient response
- Assess and intervene for acute conditions (sepsis, AKI, ARF, septic shock, dysrhythmias) and escalate appropriately
- Deliver wound care including wound VAC management and care of surgical drains and chest tubes
- Communicate effectively using SBAR and document care in EPIC while managing medication workflows via PYXIS
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (PT, respiratory, pharmacy, rapid response) to optimize patient outcomes
- Participate in unit requirements including monthly staff meetings and potential Storm/Hurricane Team assignments
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience (hard stop)
- ONC (Oncology) certification required; unit willing to train/support certification if needed
- Current BLS certification required
- Ability to safely administer chemotherapy — IV, PO, or injection
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start for this specialty
- Willingness to float to like units and inpatient holding areas as required
- First-time travelers welcome — travel experience not required
- Flu vaccine required per facility guideline (medical/religious exemptions allowed); COVID-19 vaccination not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong Med/Surg and oncology nursing skills including chemo/biotherapy administration and monitoring
- Proficiency with IV therapy, blood product administration, port access/management, PICC care
- Experience with non-invasive airway management and oxygen delivery (nasal cannula)
- Wound care expertise including wound VAC and management of surgical drains and chest tubes
- Familiarity with PYXIS, EPIC, and SBAR communication for safe med administration and documentation
- Cardiac monitoring skills including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Ability to work independently on night shift and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
