Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting with dignity and respect
• Provide compassionate hands-on care for geriatric patients and support comfort needs
• Take and record vital signs and report any changes in condition to nursing staff promptly
• Help with safe transfers and mobility assistance following facility protocols
• Maintain accurate documentation in resident charts and communicate care updates clearly
• Support infection control and safety procedures to protect residents and staff
• Build positive relationships with residents and families through kind, patient communication
• Collaborate with the care team to ensure each resident’s care plan is followed

Qualifications

• Active GNA certification (required)
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or obtained upon hire where required
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements
• Up-to-date immunizations and TB screening per facility policy
• Comfortable assisting with mobility and basic resident care; ability to follow direction and protocols
• Compassion, patience, and strong communication skills for working with older adults

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred; GNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Competence in taking vital signs, observing changes, and reporting concerns
• Familiarity with infection control, safety, and resident rights
• Good documentation practices and clear, professional communication
• Teamwork mindset and ability to follow care plans and directions from nursing staff
• Basic lifting and transfer techniques to ensure resident and caregiver safety
