Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and grooming
- Monitor and record vital signs and report changes to the nursing team
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care that preserves dignity and comfort
- Help with mobility, transfers, and safe use of assistive devices
- Keep accurate and timely documentation in resident charts
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and the interdisciplinary team
- Maintain a safe, clean environment and follow infection control practices
Qualifications
- Active GNA certification or completion of an approved Geriatric Nursing Assistant program
- Current CPR/BLS certification required or must obtain upon hire
- Up-to-date immunizations and ability to pass required health screenings
- Background check and drug screening clearance
- Strong communication skills and a caring attitude
- Previous experience in long term care or rehabilitation preferred but not required
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Completion of a GNA program or state-recognized certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of basic nursing care practices and resident rights
- Ability to take and record vital signs accurately
- Familiarity with infection control and safety procedures
- Good charting and documentation habits
- Teamwork, time management, and a calm approach in busy situations
- Compassionate patient interaction and effective communication with families
