Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to elderly residents, focusing on dignity and respect
• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility
• Monitor residents’ comfort and safety, reporting changes to nursing staff promptly
• Help with feeding and nutrition needs, following care plans and dietary instructions
• Support social engagement and meaningful interaction to improve quality of life
• Document care accurately and timely, ensuring clear communication across the care team
• Follow infection control and safety protocols to maintain a healthy environment

Qualifications

• Valid GNA certification (required)
• State certification or eligibility to work as a Geriatric Nursing Assistant in Maryland
• Previous experience in long-term care, assisted living, or similar preferred
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Strong communication skills, patience, and a heart for geriatric care

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• GNA certification (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of activities of daily living (ADLs) and resident-centered care
• Safe patient handling and mobility assistance techniques
• Basic charting and documentation skills
• Infection control principles and safe hygiene practices
• Ability to observe and report changes in resident condition
• Teamwork and effective communication with nurses and interdisciplinary staff
