Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming)
• Take and record vital signs and report changes to nursing staff
• Support mobility and fall-prevention efforts with safe transfer techniques
• Document resident care accurately and promptly in the charting system
• Communicate clearly and kindly with residents, families, and the care team
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control practices

Qualifications

• Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification or equivalent
• State registry/authorization to practice in Maryland (or eligible to obtain)
• Current BLS/CPR certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Ability to pass background check and required health screenings
• Comfort working with geriatric populations and a team-focused mindset
• Previous experience in long-term care or rehabilitation is a plus

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of an accredited GNA/Geriatric Nursing Assistant training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong hands-on caregiving skills and attention to resident dignity
• Comfortable performing ADLs and safe patient handling
• Basic clinical skills: vital signs, observations, and documentation
• Clear communication and teamwork with interdisciplinary staff
• Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
• Understanding of infection control and resident safety protocols
