Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform precise embedding of tissue specimens to prepare them for sectioning
• Operate microtomy equipment to produce high-quality tissue sections
• Execute manual staining protocols accurately to ensure diagnostic-quality slides
• Handle human tissue specimens with care and strict adherence to safety protocols
• Maintain equipment and supplies, and perform routine QC to keep the lab running smoothly
• Document procedures and results clearly to support pathologists and clinical teams
• Collaborate with a small, fast-paced team to prioritize cases and meet turnaround goals
• Adapt to occasional schedule flexibility while maintaining excellent attention to detail

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of hands-on histotechnology experience
• Certification as Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL); ASCP or AMT accepted
• Experience performing embedding, microtomy, and manual staining with human tissue
• Comfort working in a fast-paced laboratory environment and collaborating in a small team
• Helpful: familiarity with Meditech laboratory information systems

Knowledge & Skills

• Embedding, microtomy and manual staining techniques
• Human tissue handling and laboratory safety practices
• Operation or familiarity with Tissue-Tek cover slipper/stainer systems
• Experience with Sakura VIP 6 AI processor or Benchmark Ultra stainer is a plus
• Strong attention to detail, time management, and quality control mindset
• Ability to follow protocols, document thoroughly, and communicate with clinicians
