Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents, helping with daily living activities
• Assist with bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming and mobility with respect and dignity
• Monitor residents’ conditions and promptly report changes to nursing staff
• Support mealtime assistance and ensure residents are comfortable and safe
• Document resident care accurately and timely according to facility procedures
• Collaborate with the care team to create a warm, homelike environment
• Follow infection control practices and safety protocols to protect residents and staff

Qualifications

• Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or equivalent required
• CPR/BLS certification (American Heart Association preferred or equivalent)
• Valid state-required registration or license for GNA work in Maryland
• Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings preferred but new grads with strong skills welcome
• Clear background check and TB screening as required by facility

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of an approved GNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong bedside manner and the ability to connect with older adults
• Basic clinical skills: vital signs, transfers, feeding assistance
• Good observation skills and ability to communicate changes to nursing staff
• Reliable, punctual, and able to follow care plans and direction
• Team player who contributes positively to resident-centered care
