Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents, focusing on dignity and comfort
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting)
• Help with safe transfers and mobility support to prevent falls and injuries
• Monitor and record vital signs and changes in condition accurately and promptly
• Document care and communicate observations to nurses and interdisciplinary team members
• Support a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents and families
• Engage residents with respect, patience, and encouragement to promote independence

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) — required
• Active listing on the Maryland nurse aide registry or state equivalent
• CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Previous experience working with older adults or in a long-term care setting is a plus
• Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude
• Ability to pass background checks and required health screenings

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an approved GNA program or equivalent training

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of geriatric care principles and resident-centered approach
• Skill with activities of daily living (ADLs) and safe patient handling
• Basic vital-sign measurement and accurate documentation
• Infection control practices and safe hygiene procedures
• Good observational skills and ability to report changes clearly
• Compassion, patience, and strong interpersonal skills
