Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents, focusing on dignity and comfort
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting)
- Help with safe transfers and mobility support to prevent falls and injuries
- Monitor and record vital signs and changes in condition accurately and promptly
- Document care and communicate observations to nurses and interdisciplinary team members
- Support a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents and families
- Engage residents with respect, patience, and encouragement to promote independence
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) — required
- Active listing on the Maryland nurse aide registry or state equivalent
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Previous experience working with older adults or in a long-term care setting is a plus
- Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude
- Ability to pass background checks and required health screenings
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an approved GNA program or equivalent training
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of geriatric care principles and resident-centered approach
- Skill with activities of daily living (ADLs) and safe patient handling
- Basic vital-sign measurement and accurate documentation
- Infection control practices and safe hygiene procedures
- Good observational skills and ability to report changes clearly
- Compassion, patience, and strong interpersonal skills
