Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate assistance with activities of daily living, helping residents feel safe and comfortable
- Assist with grooming, bathing, dressing, toileting, and feeding in a respectful manner
- Support mobility and transfers while using proper body mechanics and equipment
- Observe changes in resident condition and promptly report concerns to nursing staff
- Document care accurately and timely to keep the care team informed
- Engage residents in friendly conversation and promote dignity and independence
- Collaborate with teammates to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment
Qualifications
- GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) or equivalent credential
- Active or eligible for state certification in Maryland
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Excellent communication skills and a compassionate bedside manner
- Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; GNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care principles and resident-centered approaches
- Basic vital signs measurement and observation skills
- Safe patient handling and transfer techniques
- Comfortable with documentation and basic charting
- Teamwork, reliability, and a positive attitude with residents and coworkers
