Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, resident-centered care that preserves dignity and independence
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting)
- Support safe mobility and transfers using proper body mechanics and equipment
- Monitor and report changes in residents' condition to nursing staff promptly
- Document care accurately and timely in the facility record
- Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection prevention protocols
- Build trusting relationships with residents and families through clear, respectful communication
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) in good standing
- BLS/CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Comfortable assisting with ADLs and safe resident transfers
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
- Reliable, punctual, and able to pass background and health screenings
- Previous long-term care or geriatric experience is a plus; new grads welcome
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a state-approved GNA program
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of geriatric care principles and resident rights
- Skill with ADLs, transfers, and safe body mechanics
- Basic charting and documentation skills
- Understanding of infection control and safety practices
- Ability to communicate clearly with residents, families, and teammates
- Time management and ability to prioritize resident needs
