Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents, making their day safer and brighter
• Assist with daily living activities including bathing, grooming, feeding, and mobility support
• Take and record vital signs accurately and report any changes to nursing staff
• Maintain dignity and respect for each resident while encouraging independence
• Observe, document, and communicate resident status and concerns in a timely manner
• Support safe transfers, ambulation, and use of assistive devices
• Follow infection control practices and maintain a clean, safe environment
• Collaborate with the care team to deliver individualized, person-centered care

Qualifications

• Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or equivalent
• State certification/registration as required for Maryland practice
• Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus
• Demonstrated compassion, patience, and strong communication skills
• Ability to pass background checks, TB screening, and required health screenings

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an approved GNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of geriatric care principles and age-related needs
• Skill in assisting with activities of daily living and mobility support
• Ability to take accurate vital signs and observe clinical changes
• Familiarity with infection prevention and safe patient handling
• Clear, respectful communication with residents, families, and team members
• Basic documentation skills and comfort with electronic or paper charting
