Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming) with respect and dignity
- Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Monitor residents’ condition and promptly report changes to the nursing team
- Perform routine tasks such as toileting assistance, feeding support, and skin checks
- Document care accurately and communicate clearly with teammates during shift handoff
- Create a warm, compassionate environment that promotes residents’ independence and comfort
- Participate in infection control and safety practices to protect residents and staff
- Engage residents in meaningful conversation and social interaction to enhance quality of life
Qualifications
- Active GNA certification in Maryland (or eligible to obtain state GNA certification)
- Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
- Previous experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or assisted living preferred
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team
- Reliable, compassionate, and patient-centered approach to care
- Ability to pass background checks and required health screenings
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a GNA training program or equivalent state-approved coursework
Knowledge & Skills
- Comfortable assisting with ADLs and basic resident care
- Knowledge of infection control best practices
- Basic vital signs measurement and reporting
- Safe transfer and positioning techniques
- Good documentation and communication skills
- Ability to follow care plans and directions from licensed nursing staff
