Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming) with respect and dignity
• Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Monitor residents’ condition and promptly report changes to the nursing team
• Perform routine tasks such as toileting assistance, feeding support, and skin checks
• Document care accurately and communicate clearly with teammates during shift handoff
• Create a warm, compassionate environment that promotes residents’ independence and comfort
• Participate in infection control and safety practices to protect residents and staff
• Engage residents in meaningful conversation and social interaction to enhance quality of life

Qualifications

• Active GNA certification in Maryland (or eligible to obtain state GNA certification)
• Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
• Previous experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or assisted living preferred
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team
• Reliable, compassionate, and patient-centered approach to care
• Ability to pass background checks and required health screenings

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of a GNA training program or equivalent state-approved coursework

Knowledge & Skills

• Comfortable assisting with ADLs and basic resident care
• Knowledge of infection control best practices
• Basic vital signs measurement and reporting
• Safe transfer and positioning techniques
• Good documentation and communication skills
• Ability to follow care plans and directions from licensed nursing staff
