Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care to geriatric residents, assisting with activities of daily living
- Assist nursing staff with mobility, transfers, and safe patient handling
- Monitor and document resident condition, reporting changes in status to the care team
- Support rehabilitation activities and follow individualized care plans
- Maintain a clean, safe, and respectful environment for residents
- Communicate effectively and courteously with residents, families, and staff
- Contribute to accurate, timely documentation to ensure continuity of care
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification (required)
- State-appropriate certification or license to practice as a Geriatric Nursing Assistant
- CPR/BLS certification required or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Comfortable assisting with transfers and personal care; ability to follow care plans
- Background check and up-to-date immunizations as required by facility policy
- Strong interpersonal skills and a caring, patient-centered approach
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited GNA or nurse aide training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care principles and dignity-focused assistance
- Basic clinical skills: vital signs, ADL assistance, mobility support
- Infection control practices and safe patient handling techniques
- Ability to follow written care plans and document care accurately
- Good communication and teamwork skills within a multidisciplinary rehab setting
- Adaptability to changing resident needs and shift-based workflows
