Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric patients
- Assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Support safe mobility and transfers while using proper body mechanics
- Monitor residents for changes in condition and report concerns to nursing staff
- Document care accurately and timely in the resident chart
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and respectful environment for residents
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to promote each resident’s dignity and comfort
Qualifications
- Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification — required
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Comfortable working with older adults and supporting personal care needs
- Ability to pass required background checks and health screenings
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
- Reliable, punctual, and able to follow facility policies and procedures
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- GNA certification or equivalent required
Knowledge & Skills
- Fundamental knowledge of geriatric care principles and elder safety
- Familiarity with activities of daily living (ADLs) assistance
- Basic vital signs monitoring and observation skills
- Good documentation and time-management habits
- Infection control practices and adherence to PPE guidance
- Compassionate bedside manner and clear communication with residents and families
