Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents and promote dignity in every interaction
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting
- Support safe mobility and transfers using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Help with meal setup and feeding, and observe/respect residents preferences and dietary needs
- Monitor resident condition and promptly report changes to nursing staff and supervisors
- Accurately document care provided and relevant observations in resident records
- Maintain infection control standards and a clean, safe environment for residents
- Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary team members to deliver person-centered care
Qualifications
- Valid GNA/GNA-equivalent certification as required by the state
- Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus
- Ability to pass background check, drug screen and required health screenings (e.g., TB)
- Reliable, compassionate, and able to communicate effectively with residents and team members
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred; GNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of activities of daily living (ADLs) and basic geriatric care
- Comfortable taking and recording basic vital signs and observations
- Familiarity with documentation best practices and electronic charting is helpful
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with older adults
- Good time management and ability to prioritize resident needs
- Team-player mindset and willingness to follow care plans and supervisor direction
