Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents and promote dignity in every interaction
• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting
• Support safe mobility and transfers using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Help with meal setup and feeding, and observe/respect residents preferences and dietary needs
• Monitor resident condition and promptly report changes to nursing staff and supervisors
• Accurately document care provided and relevant observations in resident records
• Maintain infection control standards and a clean, safe environment for residents
• Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary team members to deliver person-centered care

Qualifications

• Valid GNA/GNA-equivalent certification as required by the state
• Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus
• Ability to pass background check, drug screen and required health screenings (e.g., TB)
• Reliable, compassionate, and able to communicate effectively with residents and team members

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred; GNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of activities of daily living (ADLs) and basic geriatric care
• Comfortable taking and recording basic vital signs and observations
• Familiarity with documentation best practices and electronic charting is helpful
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with older adults
• Good time management and ability to prioritize resident needs
• Team-player mindset and willingness to follow care plans and supervisor direction
