Location: Bowie, MD
Contract Type: Per-Diem
Shift Type: Per Diem (varies), 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM, Day shift (schedule varies; evenings and weekends may be available)
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $20 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents, promoting dignity and comfort
- Assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, and toileting
- Monitor and record vital signs, reporting any changes to nursing staff promptly
- Support mobility and fall prevention efforts while encouraging resident independence
- Help create a calm, respectful environment and engage residents in social activities
- Document care accurately and communicate effectively with the care team and families
- Follow infection control protocols and facility policies to maintain a safe environment
Qualifications
- Valid GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) required
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Ability to pass background check and any required health screenings
- Comfort working evenings and flexibility for per diem scheduling
- Strong communication skills and a patient, empathetic approach to care
- Previous experience in long-term care is a plus but not always required
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an approved GNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of ADLs and basic geriatric care practices
- Skill in taking and documenting vital signs and patient observations
- Familiarity with safe patient handling and mobility assistance
- Understanding of infection control and basic safety protocols
- Ability to use electronic or paper charting systems for documentation
- Teamwork, reliability, and strong interpersonal skills with residents and families
