Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents, promoting dignity and comfort
• Assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, and toileting
• Monitor and record vital signs, reporting any changes to nursing staff promptly
• Support mobility and fall prevention efforts while encouraging resident independence
• Help create a calm, respectful environment and engage residents in social activities
• Document care accurately and communicate effectively with the care team and families
• Follow infection control protocols and facility policies to maintain a safe environment

Qualifications

• Valid GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) required
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Ability to pass background check and any required health screenings
• Comfort working evenings and flexibility for per diem scheduling
• Strong communication skills and a patient, empathetic approach to care
• Previous experience in long-term care is a plus but not always required

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an approved GNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of ADLs and basic geriatric care practices
• Skill in taking and documenting vital signs and patient observations
• Familiarity with safe patient handling and mobility assistance
• Understanding of infection control and basic safety protocols
• Ability to use electronic or paper charting systems for documentation
• Teamwork, reliability, and strong interpersonal skills with residents and families
