Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate daily care to geriatric residents, promoting dignity and comfort
• Assist with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility
• Take and record vital signs accurately and report changes in condition
• Support feeding and nutrition needs, following care plans and dietary guidelines
• Communicate clearly with nurses, families, and interdisciplinary team members
• Maintain a safe, clean environment and follow infection-control practices
• Document care activities promptly and accurately in resident records
• Act as an advocate for residents, ensuring their needs and preferences are respected

Qualifications

• GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification — required
• Current BLS/CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Prior experience in long-term care, assisted living, or geriatric settings is a plus
• Comfortable assisting with mobility and ADLs; patient-focused and compassionate
• Ability to follow care plans, communicate effectively, and work as part of a team
• Must meet facility background check and health screening requirements

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an accredited GNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and age-related conditions
• Skill in safe resident transfers and proper body mechanics
• Proficient in taking and documenting vital signs and observing clinical changes
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with residents and families
• Basic infection control, safety protocols, and medication awareness
• Dependable, detail-oriented, and able to follow directions from nursing staff
