Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care within the OBGYN unit, using the nursing process and established standards of care
• Provide compassionate labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn support to patients and families
• Monitor maternal and fetal status, interpret findings, and escalate concerns promptly
• Coordinate care with physicians, midwives, and multidisciplinary team members for seamless patient experiences
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the medical record
• Educate patients and families on procedures, postpartum care, breastfeeding, and newborn care
• Participate in unit-based initiatives to improve patient safety and care quality

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Michigan required (must be active at time of submission)
• Minimum 1 year of OBGYN nursing experience required
• AWHONN certification required
• BLS (AHA) required
• NRP required
• Travel nursing experience preferred but not required
• Strong communication and teamwork skills; patient-centered bedside manner

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Current RN license in Michigan

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in nursing care, nursing process, and adhering to standards of care and practice
• Proficient in maternal/fetal monitoring and labor support techniques
• Ability to perform focused assessments and intervene appropriately
• Comfortable with electronic medical records and accurate documentation
• Critical thinking, prioritization, and rapid decision-making in acute situations
• Collaborative approach to working with physicians, midwives, and allied health staff
