Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care for laboring patients and their newborns in the Family Birthplace
• Monitor maternal and fetal status using sound assessment and fetal monitoring skills
• Support families through labor, delivery and postpartum care with compassion and clear communication
• Perform newborn assessments and initiate appropriate neonatal care including NRP interventions when needed
• Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, anesthesiology and lactation consultants to implement individualized care plans
• Document care accurately, complete required skills checklists and maintain certification-related documentation
• Respond effectively to obstetric and neonatal emergencies, following established protocols and escalation pathways

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years current Labor & Delivery experience (required)
• Postpartum / Mother Baby (PP/MB) experience (required)
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — required
• Active Massachusetts RN license (must be uploaded with profile)
• Active American Heart Association BLS (required)
• Active Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (required)
• Active STABLE certification (required)
• Completed Skills Checklists for Labor & Delivery, Post Partum and Mother Baby (current within 1 year)
• One supervisory signed reference from within the past two years (required)
• Permanent address included in profile and reliable personal vehicle for assignment commute

Education

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong obstetric nursing skills including fetal monitoring and interpretation
• Newborn care expertise, routine assessment and stabilization
• Experience with cesarean birth intraoperative nursing support and post-op care
• Lactation support basics and family education for postnatal care
• Ability to triage, prioritize and respond rapidly in emergent situations
• Excellent teamwork, communication with multidisciplinary teams and patient-family centered care
• Comfort completing skills checklists, documentation, and maintaining required certifications
