Roles & Responsibilities

• Develop individualized nursing plans of care for critically ill patients and adjust them as conditions change
• Implement evidence-based nursing interventions, including ACLS and NIHSS protocols when needed
• Perform thorough patient assessments and monitor clinical status to identify trends and intervene early
• Evaluate outcomes of nursing interventions and document changes clearly and promptly
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient-centered care and smooth transitions
• Use hospital electronic systems and computer programs for accurate charting and communication
• Deliver excellent patient experience and lead service recovery efforts when issues arise
• Provide clinical mentorship and clear communication to support the unit during high-acuity times

Qualifications

• Active Maryland nursing license (Compact allowed) and active license at time of submission
• Minimum 24 months of recent ICU experience (required)
• Active American Heart Association ACLS certification (required)
• Active American Heart Association BLS certification (required)
• Active NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification — or willingness to complete NIHSS via NIHStrokeScale.org within 48 hours of offer
• COVID vaccine required (declinations not accepted)
• Skills checklist specific to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) discipline (required)
• Resume and required GBMC cover page (if you don’t have it, they’ll provide it)
• One supervisory reference from the last 6 months and one from the last 12 months

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in developing, implementing and evaluating nursing plans of care
• Strong patient assessment and critical thinking skills specific to ICU settings
• Skilled in ACLS, BLS and NIHSS application in acute scenarios
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for patient and team interactions
• Effective planning, organizational and analytical skills to manage multiple priorities
• Comfortable using electronic health records and other computer programs
• Focused on patient experience and service recovery to maintain high-quality care
