Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, safe nursing care to residents as a Licensed Practical Nurse
- Administer medications and treatments accurately and document per policy
- Perform timely patient assessments and communicate changes to the care team
- Collaborate with RNs, physicians, and interdisciplinary staff to coordinate care
- Maintain clear, thorough documentation to support continuity and quality
- Support residents with activities of daily living while promoting dignity and independence
- Contribute to a positive workplace by mentoring peers and sharing best practices
Qualifications
- Active LPN license in Maine or eligibility for Maine licensure
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; additional certifications a plus
- Comfortable with night-shift clinical responsibilities and medication administration
- Ability to work independently on per diem assignments and adapt to changing needs
- Prior experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or comparable setting preferred
Education
- Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program
- For candidates cross-trained as RNs: Associate or Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong patient assessment and vital sign monitoring skills
- Medication administration and documentation accuracy
- Familiarity with care planning and charting systems
- Good communication skills for interacting with residents, families, and staff
- Time management and prioritization during busy night shifts
- Infection control practices and safe patient handling
