Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform a full range of interventional radiology procedures including angioplasty, stent placement, embolization, needle biopsy, thrombolysis, and UFE
- Provide hospital-based procedural care and participate in Level I trauma responses as needed
- Share Q3 call coverage including weekday and weekend rotations to support continuous patient care
- Collaborate closely with two APPs and the IR team to coordinate cases and optimize patient flow
- Communicate clearly with patients and families to explain procedures, risks, and post-procedure care
- Maintain high-quality documentation and participate in departmental quality and safety initiatives
- Help develop and support protocols for ortho, gyn, and urology procedures when applicable
Qualifications
- Board-Certified Interventional Radiologist in Interventional Radiology (explicitly required)
- MD (Doctor of Medicine) required
- Comfortable working in a hospital-based practice and participating in a Level I trauma center
- Willingness to participate in a Q3 call schedule (every third weekday and every third weekend)
- Experience collaborating with Advanced Practice Providers in procedural settings
- Able to complete credentialing (site estimates 90 days, with fast-track available for urgent needs)
Education
- MD
- Board Certification in Interventional Radiology
Knowledge & Skills
- Proven skills in angioplasty and stent placement
- Experience performing embolization procedures, including UFE
- Competence in needle biopsy techniques and thrombolysis
- Ability to manage hospital-based procedural workflows and acute cases
- Comfort working within a trauma-designated environment and coordinating multidisciplinary care
- Effective verbal and written communication for patient consent and team handoffs
