Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
• Support safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and lift assistance when required
• Monitor and record vital signs and basic observations, reporting changes promptly to nursing staff
• Provide compassionate companionship and engage residents in meaningful activities
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation of care and resident progress
• Adhere to infection control, safety protocols, and facility policies at all times
• Communicate clearly and respectfully with residents, families, and the care team to promote coordinated care

Qualifications

• Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or equivalent in the state of Maryland
• Prior experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or assisted living preferred but not required
• Basic life support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Able to pass background check, drug screen, and meet facility health requirements
• Compassionate attitude, strong communication skills, and ability to work well in a team

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• GNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Familiarity with assisting elders with activities of daily living and mobility support
• Basic knowledge of infection control and safe patient handling
• Comfortable taking and recording vital signs and observing changes in condition
• Good interpersonal skills, patience, and the ability to provide person-centered care
• Reliable time management, documentation skills, and ability to follow care plans
