Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centered daily care to residents
- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and mobility
- Monitor and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff promptly
- Support safe transfers and ambulation while encouraging independence
- Document care accurately and communicate clearly with the care team
- Promote a positive environment by engaging residents in social and meaningful activities
- Follow infection control, safety protocols, and facility policies at all times
Qualifications
- Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or equivalent in Maryland, or eligible to obtain
- BLS/CPR certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Previous experience in long-term care or skilled nursing is a plus
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate approach to resident care
- Ability to pass required background checks and health screenings
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Basic nursing assistant skills: ADLs, vital signs, feeding and toileting assistance
- Understanding of common geriatric conditions and how they impact care
- Comfortable using electronic or paper documentation systems
- Team-oriented mindset and clear, respectful communication
- Good time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
