Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert respiratory care including ventilator management and airway support
• Assess patients, develop individualized care plans, and adjust therapy based on response
• Perform diagnostic testing such as arterial blood gas sampling and pulmonary function support
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure excellent outcomes
• Educate patients and families on breathing techniques, equipment use, and home care plans
• Document treatments, progress, and changes in condition accurately in the medical record
• Respond promptly to emergencies requiring respiratory intervention and critical thinking

Qualifications

• Active Respiratory Therapist license for the state of Ohio (or compact/state equivalent)
• CRT or RRT credential preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; ACLS and PALS a plus
• Previous acute care or inpatient respiratory therapy experience preferred
• Strong clinical judgment, good communication skills, and the ability to work independently on per diem shifts

Education

• Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy or completion of an accredited respiratory care program

Knowledge & Skills

• Proven knowledge of mechanical ventilation modes and troubleshooting
• Skilled in airway management, oxygen therapy, and aerosolized medication delivery
• Comfortable interpreting arterial blood gases and adjusting treatments accordingly
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and clear clinical documentation
• Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, urgent-need environments
