Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert orthopedic casting and splinting — apply, trim, univalve, wedging, and window casts with precision
• Safely remove and replace cast blades, and perform cast saw operations and cast trimming
• Fit and instruct patients on braces, immobilizers, crutches, and canes to promote safe mobility
• Perform sterile dressing techniques and assist with debridements and pin insertions when needed
• Remove sutures and support wound care, maintaining cleanliness and patient comfort
• Educate patients and families on care, gait training, and home safety to speed recovery
• Chart accurately and efficiently in EPIC to ensure continuity of care
• Float between clinic locations as needed, providing consistent clinical coverage and patient care

Qualifications

• Active NBCOT OTC certification required (candidate MUST hold OTC certification; pending state license not accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of outpatient orthopedic experience
• Proven experience with EPIC or similar charting systems preferred
• Strong cast saw skills and hands-on experience with casts/fiberglass/synthetic materials
• Comfortable floating to cover multiple clinic locations when called upon
• First-time travelers accepted; locals welcome — travel experience not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Orthopedic casting and splinting techniques including cylinder, long arm/leg, short arm/leg, and specialty molds
• Cast removal, trimming, univalving, wedging, and windowing
• Bracing and immobilizer application including hinged knee braces, wrist braces, slings, and cervical collars
• Sterile dressing techniques and basic wound care
• Suture removal and assistance with minor procedures (pin insertions, debridements)
• Patient education, gait training, and assistive device fitting
• Proficiency with EPIC charting and outpatient clinic workflows
• Strong communication, patient-centered care, and teamwork skills
