Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients’ communication and swallowing needs using evidence-based tools
• Develop individualized treatment plans that target functional communication goals
• Implement restorative and compensatory therapy for speech, language, cognition and dysphagia
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary colleagues to support holistic patient recovery
• Provide clear, timely documentation and progress reports to the care team
• Educate patients, families and caregivers to maximize carryover and safety
• Participate in team meetings and discharge planning to ensure smooth transitions

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology (required)
• MA state licensure or eligibility to obtain Massachusetts SLP license
• ASHA CCC-SLP preferred or active state credentials for practice
• Current BLS/CPR or willingness to obtain per facility requirements
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced rehab environment and collaborating on interdisciplinary teams
• Willingness to complete background checks, immunization requirements and onboarding paperwork

Education

• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology (required)
• ASHA CCC-SLP preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in evaluating and treating dysphagia, cognitive-communication and language disorders
• Proficient with documentation, care planning and outcome measurement
• Strong clinical reasoning and ability to prioritize caseloads
• Excellent communication and family/caregiver education skills
• Experience with adaptive and alternative communication strategies and tools
• Ability to work collaboratively in an inpatient rehabilitation setting
