Roles & Responsibilities

• Float to Oncology Medical-Surgical (MS) units as needed to support patient care and staffing
• Provide safe, high-quality med-surg and telemetry nursing care for adult and geriatric patients
• Monitor cardiac telemetry and interpret/manage dysrhythmias on the unit
• Administer and manage IV therapy, blood products, central/PICC line care, and phlebotomy
• Support respiratory care including HFNC, CPAP/BiPAP, non-invasive airway management and tracheostomy care
• Manage feeding tubes, GI needs, and participate in pre/post hemodialysis patient care
• Document accurately and efficiently in EPIC and utilize Pyxis for medication administration
• Collaborate with Corrections Officers and the interdisciplinary team to ensure a secure environment and coordinated care
• Participate in Rapid Response/Code teams and respond promptly to emergencies
• Follow infection control, isolation precautions, and facility guidelines (including flu vaccine policy)

Qualifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) — required
• EPIC charting experience — required
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (must meet within the last 3 years) with at least 1 year of current specialty experience for clinical pass
• Experience in Medical-Surgical and Telemetry settings (PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown experience strongly desired)
• Comfort and experience working in a locked corrections unit and collaborating with Corrections Officers
• Experience with IV therapy, blood product administration, central/PICC line care, and telemetry monitoring
• Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts, including variable weekends

Knowledge & Skills

• Medical-Surgical nursing and Telemetry monitoring
• IV therapy, starting and maintaining IVs, PICC/central line care
• Blood product administration and phlebotomy
• Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
• Respiratory support: HFNC, CPAP/BiPAP, tracheostomy care
• Feeding tube care and basic GI management
• Pre/Post hemodialysis care and renal failure management
• Medication protocols (heparin protocols, PCA, management of cardiac drips — no titration)
• EPIC documentation and Pyxis medication system
• Isolation precautions, PPE use, and working in secure corrections environments
• Oncology fundamentals, chemotherapy administration/monitoring (preferred)
