Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms by gathering and sterilizing instruments and supplies
• Assist the surgical team during procedures by anticipating needs and passing instruments
• Maintain strict adherence to sterile technique and infection control policies
• Perform equipment checks and report any malfunctions to ensure patient safety
• Collaborate with nurses, surgeons and staff to keep the workflow efficient and patient-focused
• Participate in orientation and training activities to stay current with facility protocols

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred or completion of an accredited surgical technology program
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or obtained upon hire
• Ability to pass required background checks and health screenings
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to sterile technique
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills in a fast-paced OR environment

Education

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or equivalent training
• High school diploma or GED

Knowledge & Skills

• Familiarity with common surgical instruments and sterile processing
• Knowledge of operating room protocols and infection control standards
• Skill in instrument handling, counts and turnover procedures
• Ability to follow surgical team directions and anticipate procedural needs
• Comfort working with a variety of surgical specialties and fast-paced schedules
• Basic documentation skills for perioperative records
