Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret telemetry and cardiac rhythms to keep patients safe and stable
• Administer medications and IV therapy accurately and compassionately
• Perform IV starts and manage central/PICC/peripheral lines with confidence
• Respond as an active member of Rapid Response/Code teams during emergencies
• Provide wound care, including Wound Vac management and dressing changes
• Manage respiratory supports such as BiPAP/CPAP and High Flow Nasal Cannula
• Document thoroughly in EPIC to ensure clear communication across the care team
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and discharge planning
• Collaborate with PT, Respiratory, Pharmacy and Social Services for seamless care
• Float to other units within OSU when needed, adapting quickly to new team dynamics

Qualifications

• Current RN license in good standing (required)
• Minimum 2 years of PCU/stepdown/telemetry nursing experience (required)
• BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
• EPIC charting experience (required)
• Comfort with telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and cardiac monitoring
• Ability to float to different units within the OSU system as needed
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Flu vaccine required per facility guideline (medical exemptions allowed)

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
• IV therapy, IV starts, and central/PICC line care
• Medication administration and titration protocols (including insulin and cardiac drips)
• Wound care and Wound Vac management
• Tracheostomy and chest tube management
• ABG interpretation and oxygen delivery systems (HFNC, BiPAP/CPAP)
• Blood product administration and heparin/PCA familiarity
• Orthopedic trauma care, feeding tube management, and postop care
• Use of Rapid Response/Code teams and emergency response procedures
• Proficient Epic documentation and clinical charting
