Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate post-anesthesia care to pediatric patients in PACU
Closely monitor vital signs and recovery status, escalating concerns promptly
Administer medications and manage IVs according to orders and protocols
Document patient status and handoffs clearly to ensure continuity of care
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary team members
Support family education and provide clear, calming communication during recovery

Qualifications

Registered Nurse (RN) credential — core requirement for this role
Experience or training in PACU and working with pediatric patients
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; pediatric-focused certifications a plus
Willingness to complete the provided orientation to the unit and protocols
Strong clinical assessment skills and the ability to respond quickly in recovery situations

Knowledge & Skills

Post-anesthesia patient assessment and monitoring
Pediatric clinical considerations and age-appropriate communication
IV therapy management and medication administration
Accurate clinical documentation and effective handoff communication
Ability to work in a fast-paced perioperative recovery environment
