Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor pediatric patients in the post-anesthesia setting and respond quickly to changes in condition
• Assess airway, breathing, circulation and pain; initiate appropriate interventions
• Administer medications and treatments safely, following established protocols
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists and the pediatric care team to ensure smooth handoffs
• Provide family-centered education and reassurance during recovery
• Document patient status, interventions and outcomes accurately in the medical record

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license (eligible to practice in Ohio)
• Experience or strong interest in PACU and pediatric nursing (Pediatrics is the specialty listed)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and ACLS preferred where applicable
• Comfort with pediatric assessment, pain management and airway support
• Ability to pass required background checks and facility onboarding
• Willingness to complete the provided orientation (orientation is specified in the posting)

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong pediatric assessment and post-anesthesia monitoring skills
• Airway management and recovery room care expertise
• IV medication administration and pain management techniques
• Excellent communication with families and multidisciplinary teams
• Proficiency with electronic medical records and clinical documentation
• Ability to prioritize and respond quickly in a fast-paced postoperative environment
