Roles & Responsibilities

Provide safe, compassionate perioperative nursing care to pediatric patients in the operating room
Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and perioperative team members to ensure smooth, efficient procedures
Prepare the OR environment, maintain sterile technique, and ensure all instruments and supplies are ready
Monitor patients’ status and communicate changes promptly to the care team
Educate and support families before and after procedures with clear, reassuring information
Document care accurately in the medical record and participate in team debriefs to improve patient outcomes

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio (or compact RN license as applicable)
Experience or training in operating room nursing, with a focus on pediatrics preferred
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; PALS and/or ACLS strongly preferred
Comfort working with children and families in perioperative settings
Current immunizations and ability to pass mandatory background checks and screenings

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Solid understanding of pediatric anatomy and perioperative nursing principles
Proficiency with sterile technique and surgical instrumentation
Strong communication skills with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams
Ability to prioritize, multitask, and stay calm under pressure
Familiarity with electronic medical records and accurate documentation practices
