Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care for pediatric patients in the operating room
• Prepare the OR and sterile field, ensuring instruments and supplies meet procedural needs
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and the perioperative team to facilitate efficient, patient-centered care
• Advocate for patients and families, offering clear communication and compassionate support throughout the surgical experience
• Document care accurately and timely in the patient record to maintain continuity and compliance
• Participate in orientation and unit-based training to strengthen pediatric OR competencies

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure — eligible to practice in Ohio
• Experience or strong interest in Operating Room nursing with pediatric patients
• Current basic life support (BLS) certification; pediatric-specific certifications (PALS) encouraged
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, team-oriented surgical environment
• Ability to participate in required orientation and unit competency validation

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred where available

Knowledge & Skills

• Pediatric perioperative nursing principles and patient safety practices
• Aseptic and sterile technique in the OR
• Effective communication with multidisciplinary teams and families
• Basic perioperative instrumentation and surgical workflow
• Clinical documentation and attention to detail
