Shift Type: Primarily day shifts with rotating on-call coverage: 8-hour and 12-hour shift options (typical listed start window 6:45 AM - 10:30 AM; actual start times may vary based on cases). Weeknight on-call: one weekday per week (end of shift coverage until 7:00 AM). Weekend coverage: roughly Saturday 7:00 AM through Monday 7:00 AM (2 weekend shifts/month to total ~24 hours). Call response time: 30 minutes. (Day / Rotating)

Roles & Responsibilities

• Circulate in the operating room to ensure smooth, safe perioperative care for surgical patients
• Prepare and maintain sterile fields, assist with prepping cases, and support scrubbing staff as needed
• Monitor patients throughout the perioperative process and coordinate with the surgical team
• Manage transport, room turnover, and basic OR suite cleaning to keep cases moving
• Document care accurately in Cerner / Surginet and complete required orientation modules
• Serve as on-call support for assigned shifts, responding within the established 30-minute window
• Float to related areas as needed (inpatient surgery areas, Endo infusions, Preop, PACU) when requested
• Act as a dependable charge/resource nurse when assigned and communicate effectively with managers and team members

Qualifications

• Active RN license (eligible to submit candidates; license required to work)
• Minimum ~2 years of perioperative/OR experience preferred (post-op/OR experience noted in posting)
• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS (PALS preferred)
• Must-have experience with total joints / orthopedics and spine procedures
• Experience circulating in the OR; scrubbing experience is a plus
• Familiarity with Cerner / Surginet charting systems
• Robotics experience highly preferred; vascular and thoracic experience a plus
• Ability to respond to call within 30 minutes and to float to related units when needed

Education

• Active RN license required
• BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing principles and OR circulation workflows
• Total joint (hip, knee, shoulder), orthopedic and spine surgical care
• Robotics-assisted surgical support (preferred)
• Scrubbing techniques and sterile field maintenance
• Proficiency with Cerner and Surginet electronic medical records
• Patient transport, room turnover, and efficient OR suite prep
• Strong communication and teamwork skills in a fast-paced surgical environment
