Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients and families to create individualized, compassionate care plans
• Implement evidence-based labor, delivery, mother/baby couplet care and neonatal support
• Evaluate patient outcomes and adapt plans to ensure safe, high-quality care
• Provide clinical leadership for the patient care team on your assigned shift
• Perform emergency interventions, including neonatal resuscitation when needed
• Document care accurately and clearly in Cerner to support continuity and safety
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and support patient- and family-centered care
• Mentor and support colleagues to uphold best practices in Labor & Delivery

Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (Nursys must show active IL license) — required and must be active
• Minimum 2+ years of experience in LDRP (labor, delivery & mom/baby couplet care) — required
• Current American Heart Association BLS — required
• Current American Heart Association ACLS — required
• Current NRP certification — required
• Skills checklist pertinent to Labor/Delivery, current within 1 year — required
• Two completed supervisory reference forms with dates employed listed — required
• Level II Nursery experience — preferred
• STABLE certification — preferred
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR and strong clinical leadership skills — preferred
• Applicants within 50-mile radius of the facility are not eligible; facility will require permanent address documentation

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient assessment and clinical judgment in Labor & Delivery settings
• Hands-on mother/baby couplet care and labor support
• Neonatal resuscitation skills and experience with NRP protocols
• Comfortable using Cerner for documentation and order communication
• Ability to lead a multidisciplinary care team and provide shift-level clinical leadership
• Familiarity with Level II Nursery workflows and STABLE protocols
• Excellent communication, triage, and patient education skills
