Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead and manage Plant Operations, Environmental Services, and Grounds teams to keep the facility safe, efficient, and patient-ready
- Supervise approximately 45 FTEs across multiple divisions, providing coaching, performance management, and development plans
- Oversee preventative maintenance programs and inspect equipment to ensure systems meet operational and manufacturer standards
- Direct maintenance of utility systems to ensure continuous heat, steam, power, gas, and medical gas availability for patient care
- Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and standards including NFPA, OSHA, EPA, CMS, and local building and fire codes
- Coordinate and monitor outside contractors to guarantee compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements
- Act as a departmental liaison to assess needs, build action plans, and deliver solutions that support clinical and operational teams
- Develop job-specific customer service expectations and training plans to drive a service-oriented facilities culture
- Respond to customer and employee concerns promptly and professionally to maintain high satisfaction and operational continuity
Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years of personnel management experience (required)
- Bachelor's degree preferred in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field
- Demonstrated knowledge of electricity, electronics, plumbing, carpentry, boiler operation, HVAC, and general building maintenance
- Experience with autoclaving, bio-waste handling, life safety codes, construction phasing, and environmental services operations
- Proven ability to apply engineering principles to detect and repair malfunctioning equipment or systems
- Strong leadership, communication, and contractor management skills
- Willingness to relocate to a rural area (required)
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field (preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Regulatory compliance: NFPA, OSHA, EPA, CMS and local codes
- Facilities maintenance and preventative maintenance programs
- HVAC, boiler operation, plumbing, electrical, and utility systems
- Environmental Services (EVS) operations and bio-waste handling
- Construction phasing and contractor oversight
- Personnel management, training development, and customer service expectations
- Basic engineering principles for diagnostics and equipment repair
