Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled occupational therapy interventions under the direction of an OTR to help patients regain independence
• Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) using evidence-based techniques
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and care staff to create and execute patient-centered plans of care
• Document progress, interventions, and outcomes clearly and timely in the patient record
• Educate patients and families on adaptive strategies, home safety, and use of durable medical equipment
• Support discharge planning by recommending appropriate community resources and follow-up services
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous quality improvement efforts

Qualifications

• Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential required
• Current or the ability to obtain California COTA licensure/registration prior to start
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification required or obtained upon hire
• Clinical experience in occupational therapy settings preferred (inpatient, outpatient, or skilled rehab)
• Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and meet facility immunization requirements
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program (Associate degree or diploma)

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in therapeutic approaches to improve ADLs, transfers, and functional mobility
• Familiarity with patient assessment tools, treatment planning, and outcome measurement
• Comfortable documenting in electronic medical records and following facility protocols
• Good clinical judgment, time management, and prioritization in a fast-paced setting
• Strong patient and family education skills with a compassionate approach
